    The film is wonderful! Tear-jerker at the end (in happiness).
    A comment by a German soldier who had been at D-Day struck me: "It's hard to find out you lost the war, it's harder to discover you were on the wrong side."
    Yeah, twice! I wonder how the German people continue to trust their government.

"A Clockwork Orange" Is Still Relevant

I watched the film "A Clockwork Orange" last weekend. It has been years since I saw it. This is one of those movies people of my generation (I was born in 1956) know about. Classic.

I was struck by how the issue of violent crime and what to do about it has not changed. We still don't know. Yet, the portrayal of the crime victims was the most poignant to me; justice was not served to them. Plus, the public and government never considered what they wanted.

Yeah, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I watched the film, "The Detective" over the weekend on Kanopy. I chose it because it is a slight film-noire starring Frank Sinatra. I like Sinatra's acting.

The film has good acting and script. What I found interesting was its handling of homosexuality in New York at that time (1968). The film mildly addressed the bigotry faced by gay men from the police then in a factual way, and via Sinatra's role it was portrayed as wrong.
