Today's Lectionary reading is one that is as pertinent today as it was 2000 years ago. It addresses jealousy, envy if you prefer. "Evil eye" means "envious."

I watched the film "A Clockwork Orange" last weekend. It has been years since I saw it. This is one of those movies people of my generation (I was born in 1956) know about. Classic.

This is a superb biography. Chernow weaves the times, events, the successes, failures, Washington's strengths and his weaknesses into one narrative. Yes, it is a large book. Washington lived a large life.
